Right after a fire: the first hour

  1. Safety first. Get everyone out and stay out until the fire department says it is safe to go back in (USFA).
  2. Don’t turn utilities back on yourself. If firefighters shut off gas, power or water, let the utility or a professional restore them.
  3. Call your insurer and get a claim number.
  4. Photograph everything before anything is moved or cleaned.
  5. Secure the property. Have open windows, doors and roof damage boarded up or tarped.

How it works

1. Tell us what happened

Call or send the form with your ZIP code and a short description.

2. We connect you

Your request goes to a local restoration company that serves your ZIP code.

3. They inspect and quote

The company inspects, documents the damage and gives you a written scope.

The referral is free. The restoration company is independent; you decide whether to hire them. Most property owners receive quotes within 24 hours. More about how it works.

Insurance in Texas, in plain terms

  • You photograph. Take photos and video of every room and damaged item before cleanup, and keep receipts.
  • The restorer documents. The restoration company records the damage and writes an itemized estimate.
  • The adjuster decides. Your insurer decides what the policy covers.
  • The deductible is yours. Texas law bars contractors from offering to waive, rebate or absorb it (TDI).
